Chimaira & Terror - Gig News UK Tour - US Hardcore -- Posted by rock3 on Sunday, May 29 2005
CHIMAIRA are set to play three special low-key shows after their Download Festival appearance at Donington on Saturday 11th June. The three special shows will give the band the opportunity to showcase new material from their forthcoming third album, ‘Chimaira’, which is due for a 1st August release. Full dates are as follows:

11th June – DONINGTON Download Festival (Snickers stage)
14th June – LONDON Underworld
15th June – OXFORD Zodiac
16th June – COLCHESTER Arts Centre

Tickets for the club shows are priced at £12 and go on sale today from box offices and all usual agents. Support comes from Israeli labelmates, BETZEFER (whose album ‘Down Low’ is released through Roadrunner on 6th June).

CHIMAIRA are currently on a short US tour, before frontman Mark Hunter and guitarist Rob Arnold fly to London to mix the new album in May with uber-knob twiddler, Colin Richardson. Their 2003 album, ‘The Impossibility Of Reason’ has now sold in excess of 25K in the UK.

Hardcore traditionalists, TERROR are set for some long-awaited UK shows this June.

TERROR bring the purest hardcore attitude to their music. Their brutal, stripped-down, uncompromising, sweat-soaked stomp of an album, ‘One With The Underdogs’ has won them fans and followers across the globe, thanks to the genuine power transmitted by their songs and the California band’s relentless, hard-working approach to playing shows. Now, their UK fans get a bite and can catch their heroes at the following shows;

JUNE 27TH - PONTYPRIDD ARTS CENTRE
JUNE 28TH - GLASGOW BARFLY
JUNE 29TH - SHEFFIELD CLUB ZERO
JUNE 30TH - LONDON UNDERWORLD

Tickets go on sale this week and are available from box offices and all usual agents. To coincide, Roadrunner will be re-issuing TERROR’s debut album, ‘Lowest Of The Low’ on 27th June, but with a whopping 10 extra live tracks and 3 bonus studio tracks. Full tracklisting will read as follows:

01. Better Off Without You
02. Don't Need Your Help
03. Nothing To Me
04. Keep Your Distance
05. Another Face
06. Push It Away
07. Life And Death
08. What Have We Done
09. Lowest Of The Low
10. Can I Say (BONUS)
11. Out Of My Face (BONUS)
12. Nothing To Lose (BONUS)
13. Better Off Without You (Live in Tokyo)
14. Don't Need Your Help (Live in Tokyo)
15. Life And Death (Live in Tokyo)
16. What Have We Done (Live in Tokyo)
17. Another Face (Live in Tokyo)
18. Push It Away (Live in Tokyo)
19. Nothing To Lose (Live in Tokyo)
20. Nothing To Me (Live in Tokyo)
21. Lowest Of The Low (Live in Tokyo)
22. Keep Your Distance (Live in Tokyo)

Hardcore has lived and breathed in many people and through myriad bands. It has weathered fads and trends, yet will continue to outlast whatever the world with throw at it. Why? Because there has always been a band to fly the flag for its true spirit and carry it forward. From Agnostic Front to Madball, Cro-Mags to Sick of It All. Today that band is Terror. Long may they reign.

Died Smiling - Gig News -- Posted by rock3 on Thursday, May 12 2005
Thurs 26 May - Phoenix, Phoenix Street, Plymouth

Died Smiling are based in Devon and have been together for just over a year, although they first met and started writing music at school. Brought up on a diet of bands like Faith No More, Pantera and Sepultura, as well as various obsessions with film scores, punk and classic metal, they have distilled their influences into their own unique sound – melodic and intelligent, yet bursting with energy and power.

More importantly though (?), it's FREE to get in! And add to that the fact that the night runs from 8pm - 3am and you've got all the ingredients for a top night out. Cujo will be on stage at 9.30pm.

Address - Goldsmith's College Student Union, Dixon Road, New Cross, London, SE14 6NW

Guilfest 2005 - Guildford

This week the band received some very exciting news... they have been invited to play at this year's Guilfest which takes place on the weekend of 15th, 16th & 17th July. Cujo will be playing on the LiveClub Stage on Saturday 16th, on stage 9.45pm - 10.15pm. Also playing on the same day (though, unsurprisingly, they'll be on the main stage) will be Paul Weller, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Others, The Subways, The Black Velvets, Nizlopi and many more.

Guilfest began life as a folk and blues festival in 1992 and has grown into one of England's most renowned annual music events. Past guests include The Darkness, Alice Cooper, Blondie, Simple Minds, Ocean Colour Scene and Jamie Cullum amongst others.

This is Cujo's first ever major festival and it would be fantastic to have a big crowd down there to support them. Tickets are available to buy either directly from the band or online at http://www.guilfest.co.uk/2005/boxoffice/page1.htm. NB. if you buy direct from the band you'll receive a discount off the normal retail price plus you won't have to pay the 10% booking fee. A day ticket costs just £30 (£35 normal retail price), weekend tickets without camping cost £65 (£75 normal retail price) and weekend tickets with camping cost £75 (£85 normal retail price). If you are unsure how to contact the band in order to buy tickets directly from them, please reply to this email and this can be arranged. Please come along and show your support for the band and hopefully we can make this the first of many festivals to come

Roadrunner Records - Special Release - NAILBOMB -- Posted by rock3 on Saturday, May 7 2005
NAILBOMB
’LIVE AT DYNAMO’
FEROCIOUS LIVE SHOW AVAILABLE ON LOW-PRICED DVD FROM JULY 4TH

During the European Tour for Sepultura’s ‘Chaos A.D.’ album at the tail-end of 1993, mainman Max Cavalera forged a friendship with Alex Newport, the lead vocalist with U.K. noise-niks Fudge Tunnel who were their support act. They instantly formed a PunkMetal side-project called Nailbomb and, just as quickly, recorded an album ‘Point Blank’ that was released in March 1994. Despite the unremitting short, sharp & shocking nature of the heavily-politicised songs, the album went on to chart across Europe and elicit demands for live dates.

This specially low-priced DVD features a full raw live recording of Nailbomb’s second (and last) show at the Dynamo Festival in Eindhoven, Holland on June 3rd 1995. Joining guitarist/vocalists Max & Alex on the day in a constantly changing line-up were Igor Cavalera (drums – Sepultura), Evan Seinfeld (bass – Biohazard), Dave Edwardson (bass – Neurosis), D.H. Peligro (drums – Dead Kennedys), Scott Doom (bass – Doom), Rhys Fulber (keyboards – Front Line Assembly) & Barry C Schneider (drums – Tribe After Tribe). The set includes almost the entire ‘Point Blank’ album plus a ferocious cover of Dead Kennedy’s ‘Police Truck’.

As Newport stated at the time “Nailbomb was always supposed to be short, to the point and fun.”

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Wasting Away
2. Guerrillas
3. Cockroaches
4. Vai Toma No Cu
5. Sum Of Your Achievements
6. Religious Cancer
7. Police Truck
8. Exploitation
9. World Of Shit
10. Blind And Lost
11. Sick Life

Drive Thru Invasion Tour - US Bands on UK Tour -- Posted by rock3 on Saturday, May 7 2005
With 2005's Drive-Thru Invasion Tour fast approaching, the UK braces itself for
an all-American assault. Featuring the likes of Allister, Hidden In Plain View,
Halifax and I Am The Avalanche, it is being recommended that all those living in
or around the towns visited on the tour, to batten down the hatches.

Allister headline the tour, bringing their unique punk fuelled sing-along
melodies all the way from Chicago and generously leaving them bouncing around in
your brain for days.

Hidden In Plain View are next in line, adding their guitar-centered, melody
driven, rhythmically complex "sui generis" style of music to the mix.

Halifax bring along their jolting rock n roll and I Am The Avalanche, who
feature lead singer Vinnie Caruana from The Movielife, bring their powerful,
angular guitar rock to the equation.
